Maylin was born November 11 at 11:50 p.m. She is a tiny little girl because she was born 16 days early, but she is very healthy. She is 6 lbs., 6.5 oz and 19.5 inches long. Mother, father and brother are doing well! More to come and there are about 15 pics on the Flickr page.

Halloween

We rarely do much of anything for Halloween, but for some reason this year we really got into it. All four of these pictures are from another recent Flickr upload, I know hard to believe two in three days. The first picture is of our pumpkins. We hadn't carved any in a few years, and it has been even longer since I tried anything difficult. A recent Food Network Competition got me inspired, and the result is my Darth Vader design. For the first time ever I tried to just remove partial layers of the pumpkin, and I am happy with the result. Jessie did a more simple design, I really like the facial expression.

As far as costumes, we had a few. Sam was a Kangaroo, and very cute. He even had a baby kangaroo in his pouch, and Jessie put a bow on it for it to represent his unborn sister. Then on Friday, we could dress up at school, and Jessie decided I should be Rorschach from Watchmen. I collected all the different clothing items I needed, and then made a mask from a t-shirt and a Sharpie. It turned out better than I could have imagined, and it was pretty fun walking around school without people recognizing who I was. Visibility was fairly good considering I was looking through a shirt.

Then Saturday night Jessie and I went to a costume party. Weeks in advance we knew about it and discussed our options. We were trying to come up with a famous couple that had a lot of kids, and Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were the first people we thought of. I actually dressed as Brad Pitt's character Rusty from the Ocean's movies, and drew on a very detailed tattoo he has on his left arm and hand. Angelina Jolie has lots of tattoos, two of which I drew on Jessie as you can see in the picture. The tattoo(s) on her left arm are the coordinates of the birthplaces of each of her six children. A very fun day!

Fall 2009

103009 021, originally uploaded by drenchedecent.

Amazingly, today was my first Flickr upload since July. I narrowed it down to a selection of 30 pictures or so over the last few months. Mostly of Sam of course; as you can see in this picture he loves to read! He is completely obsessed with letters and numbers and that is how he spends his day. We are less than a month away from the birth of his baby sister!

Sam loves to read. He rarely sits still, he is always on the move, except when he is reading. Not that he can actually read at 15 months, but he does flip through books methodically page by page.

Happy 1st Birthday!

032109b 048, originally uploaded by drenchedecent.

Sam's birthday was 10 days ago, but I haven't had time to post pictures until tonight. It took me awhile, but I cut the 300 pictures down (three cameras) to less than 70. He had a great time with his Grandmama and Granddaddy and two of his aunts and one of his uncles. He enjoyed his presents, especially the books, but didn't really like the cake. As usual, click on this picture to see a lot more!

Sam & Asa

Sam has recently had a lot of play-dates, and here he is with his friend Asa. Sam is now 11 months, I think Asa is about 20 months. Sam is obviously in need of his first hair-cut, and is going to get one soon! Sam is walking like crazy now, all around our home. He isn't saying real words yet, but he "talks" constantly!

Teeth!

020909 029
Sam is 10 months old now, sorry for the lack of posts. Apparently I haven't updated the blog in over a month. Sam has two new teeth up top now, and while they are cute, it was a miserable process. New set of pictures was taken over the last week or so. He loves to swing, and the weather is nice enough to do it now. He is closer and closer to walking. He actually does walk all around our home, he just has to be holding on to something most of the time. He took three steps unassisted in the kitchen yesterday, that is his new record.

The 12 Days of Christmas

Louisville Christmas

Sam had a very long Christmas this year, truly experiencing "12 Days" in four different locations. He did well the whole time, even though his parents got sick! You can view albums on Flickr from Rome, Cranberry, Louisville and Franklin.
